The Turkish British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (“Chamber”, “TBCCI”, “we”, ”our”, ”us”) is fully committed to complying with the provisions set out in all applicable Data Protection legislation and regulations such as Data Protection Act and EU GDPR to maintain privacy and data protection of its members, employees and other users on all communication platforms including our website.

What information do we collect about you?

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and retain personally identifiable information provided by users of this website to continue to improve our services

We collect information you provide including when you

  • enquire or register to join the Chamber as a member
  • make an enquiry about our services or third parties
  • ask for contact information for service provision or referrals
  • place an order on our site
  • request our newsletter
  • enquire about our Certification and other documents service
  • use any of the other services we provide; in this case, we will have informed you about the collection and use of this data

We collect information about you when you query or register to join the TBCCI as a member or book an event or a meeting with us, which includes your

  • Business name, address, sector
  • Contact names, email addresses and telephone numbers

We collect information about you when you visit our website. 

When you visit our website, we may automatically collect information via Chamber’s web servers, cookies or Internet Protocol (“IP”) address tracking. This data is used to improve and publicise our membership facilities, events and networking services to our customers.

  • parent company
  • third parties we the Chamber work closely with

  • face to face meetings.

How will we use the information about you?

For members:

We will use the information about our members to process and manage your membership to process your bookings and, with your consent, send you information about TBCCI activities, initiatives, news and events, membership products and services and share your contact details with other TBCCI members .We will share with bona fide third parties in the UK and Turkey your contact details, company type, business sector, products and activities for referrals for promoting your business. We will store your data for the duration of your membership. At any time, you can withdraw your consent for TBCCI to store your data.  At any time, you can opt out from receiving information from the TBCCI.

For non-members

We would like to send to non-members information about the TBCCI including TBCCI activities, services, initiatives, news, membership, marketing and events. For this, you will ask you prior consent in accordance with EU GDPR regulations.  If you have consented to hear from us, you may opt out at any time by letting us know by email to our gdpr.consent@tbcci.org email address or write to us. Personal information we gather for non-members will be deleted after 12 months of last communication contact from the non-member. At any time, you can withdraw your consent for TBCCI to store your data.  At any time, you can opt out from receiving information from the TBCCI.  Personally identifiable information will not be disclosed to any third party except if prior permission has been obtained from the users.

Storing your Information

The data that we collect from you may be and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers.

Security

The Chamber is committed to maintain reasonable measures to safeguard personally identifiable information. We limit access to your personal data to only our employees; contractors or agents who have a legitimate business need to have access to that data. Relevant areas of the Chamber’s website will employ Secure Socket Layer (“SSL”) encryption technology to enhance data privacy and help prevent loss, misuse, or alteration of the information collected and stored by the Chamber.

While we have put in place appropriate measures to protect against unauthorised processing of personal information and accidental loss of or damage to personal data, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best with appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our website.

Right of access to your information, amendment and Right of Removal

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. You can ask for a copy or request to amend or erase your information at any time. If you would like to view or amend your details, contact us on gdpr.consent@tbcci.org or write to us. We will respond to the request within one month as required by the relevant provisions in the GDPR.
