UK TURKEY TRADE RESULTS
For the first time since September 2008, in November 2009, trade between the UK and Turkey showed increase. In November 2009, UK exports to Turkey rose by 9.6% and exports from Turkey to the UK recorded an increased of 7.1%. The total trade between the two countries in the cumulative Jan-Nov period was down by 34.9%

NUMBER OF UK VISITORS TO TURKEY
In the January-November eleven months period in 2009, the number of visitors from the UK to Turkey was 2,420,000 (up 11%). With this highest number to date, UK became second after Germany with the highest number of visitors to Turkey. Most popular destinations were Istanbul (427,000; up by 19%), Antalya (+15%) and Mugla (+12).

Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines has launched daily flights from Stansted London to Istanbul at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport; this new route is in addition to the three daily flights from London Heathrow flights to Istanbul Atatürk Airport; serving these two London airports to the two airports in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines will resume its Stansted to Istanbul Atatürk Airport services from 2010 summer. (See Turkish Airlines - UK). Turkish Airlines has now become the official carrier of Barcelona Football Club and will become the official carrier of Manchester United.

Pegasus Airlines
Pegasus Airlines has launched new direct flights from 18 January 2010 from the UK to the Turkish holiday destinations of Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman, flying from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Manchester and Birmingham. For programme details, see www.flypgs.com.

Last day to file the 2009 Tax Return online
First self assessment payment on account for 2009/10.
Capital gains tax payment for 2008/09.
Balancing payment – 2008/09 income tax/class 4 NICs.
Last day for amending 2007/08 Tax Return.

February 2:
Quarterly submission date of P46 (Car)
(for employees whose car and/or fuel benefit has changed in quarter to 5 January).

February 14:
Last date to apply for NIC deferment for 2009/10.

February 14:
Last day to pay any balance of 2008/09 tax and Class 4 NIC to avoid an automatic 5% surcharge
