In the first month of 2007, Turkish exports to the UK increased by 34.5%. With the 5.8% increase in UK exports to Turkey, the overall trade between the two countries achieved an increased of 21.8%.

UPDATE ON IMPORTATION OF NUTS FROM TURKEY THAT REQUIRE AFLATOXIN CERTIFICATES
Recent communication from Food Standards Agency:
"A draft Decision amending Commission Decision 2006/504/EC was agreed at a
recent meeting of the Standing Committee. The draft amending Decision
indicates that compound products containing less than 10% of a product of
concern e.g. hazelnuts from Turkey are exempt from the Decision. However,
although consignments of compound products containing less than 10% of a
product of concern will no longer require a certificate they could still be
sampled and tested for Aflatoxins by enforcement authorities at the point
of import. You should note that it is currently anticipated that the amending Decision will not come into force until 1 May 2007."
