TBCCI RECEPTION ON FRIDAY, 2 NOVEMBER 2007, ISTANBUL
The TBCCI has organised an evening Reception on Friday, 2 November 2007 in Istanbul to gather the Chamber members from Turkey, officials of the British Embassy, British Consulate and the British Chamber of Commerce of Turkey (BCCT (BCCT) and other members of the Turkish-British community in Turkey. The British Consulate General, Barbara Hay is one of the Guests of Honour. The venue will be the British Consulate General, Istanbul. Further details of the event will be announced in due course.

BUSINESS BRIEFING, THURSDAY, 5 JULY 2007
A business briefing organised by the Chamber about the Recent Economic Developments in Turkey, Buying Property in Turkey, Banking Aspects and the New Turkish Mortgage took place on 5 July 2007 at the TBCCI venue.
At the briefing, Mr Aziz Dogan, the First Economic Counsellor, Turkish Embassy, presented the subjects of Recent Economic Developments in Turkey and Buying Property in Turkey. In the second part of the briefing, Mr Kaan Tokat, General Manager IsBank, London and Mr Ozgur Altan, Research & Business Development IsBank made a presentation about Banking Aspects of Buying Property in Turkey and the New Turkish Mortgage.
NEW EU COMMISSION REGULATION ON OPENING ANNUAL TARIFF QUOTAS AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS
Commission Regulation (EC) No 816/2007, 12 July 2007 opens annual tariff quotas for the importation from Turkey of certain goods resulting from the processing of agricultural products covered by Council Regulation (EC) No 3448/93.
To view the duty free tariff quotas applicable upon imports into the EU of qualifying processed agricultural products from Turkey, click on New EC quotas on Agricultural products imported from Turkey (816/2007). The export procedure of these products from Turkey must be accompanied by an ATR Movement Certificate (A.TR).
NEW CHAMBER SERVICE ON ATR MOVEMENT CERTIFICATION
A new feature has been added to the Chamber website to provide a comprehensive guide for ATR export import procedures. The new section includes information and guidance for ATR Export Document Requirements, Goods qualifying for ATR, Completion of an ATR form, Exporters Declaration and other related information. The feature will be available on the Chamber website from Tuesday, 31 July and will also be emailed to TBCCI members in word document format.

UK-TURKEY TRADE
In May 2007, the trade volume between the UK and Turkey increased by 26.8%. In the cumulative January-May period, the increase was 16.5%.

THE BRITISH CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE SURVEY
The UK Treasury announced this month that the Government intends to launch a second Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) reporting in 2007 to identify what further investments and reforms are needed to equip the UK for the global business challenges. The 2007 CSR will represent a long-term and fundamental review of government expenditure, covering departmental allocations for the period up to 2011. The British Chambers of Commerce has prepared a survey to provide feedback to this government study, and in this feedback also intends to draw attention to the matters raised in their findings with from UK Trade & Investment and UK government officials.
