TURKISH PARLIAMENTARIANS' VISIT TO LONDON
The President and three Members of the Turkey - European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee gave a business-briefing seminar on 26 March 2007 the role of non-governmental organisations in the negotiating process of Turkey’s accession to the EU. The panel included Prof. Dr. Aydin Dumanoglu, the President of the Committee MP, Committee Members Mr Zekeriya Akçam MP, Mr Ilyas Çakir MP, Mr Halil Akyüz MP and Ms Buket Turan, Committee Secretary. click here for the photos.

UK-TURKEY FEBRUARY TRADE
In the year 2006 the trade between the UK and Turkey had reached 11.9 billion US$, an increase of 12.1% over 2005. click here to view the results for 2006 and 2005. In the first two months of this year, the increase continued with 11.7% in February, and 18.5% in January-February.

Isbank London has started offering house loans to British residents buying property in Turkey. Upon successful credit checking of the applicants and meeting other conditions, Isbank Overseas Mortgages (Repayment Mortgages) are extended with a maximum term of 12 years, in variable rates, in pounds sterling.

Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa began to implement a cooperation agreement following the signing of a mutual agreement with Star Alliance. According to the agreement, the two companies will harmonise flight schedules, and shared flights between selected countries will be introduced in the 2007 Summer Timetable will be introduced.

SunExpress, our new member, has started scheduled operations between London Stansted and Antalya in February 2007. From 28th April 2007, two new destinations are served by SunExpress again from London Stansted: Izmir - gateway to the Aegean Coast and Ercan - Northern Cyprus.
